Walking barefoot is pleased to present a new author of our blog-zine: Mauro Rubin. Analyst, developer and blogger, but especially fond of new forms of web communication, Mauro tells us today if you can anticipate new trends in Internet computing, especially as it could be done to predict them. Obviously, we invite you to make a jump on his blog, which is really interesting.
Is there a tool to predict the new trends and new fashions of the future?
The answer is simple and straightforward: no.
It 'also true that some collective experiences that have made history in order can help (a little' how did the staff at YouNoodle with this test). The first thing we should clarify is the definition of trend on wikipedia:
'L' series analysis includes a series of statistical methods capable of investigating a series, determine the basic process and that they derive forecasts.
A simple translation is: a trend is the study of a series of events aimed at creating a statistical model on which to make predictions. We try to understand with an example: the advent of Twitter. Twitter is a microblogging public that allows you to send messages of 140 characters. In March 2006, when the system was published, the situation was as follows: blogs were a well established system of communication and new social network multiplied the information to manage, RSS aggregator for every source had become a thing almost impossible to manage. Twitter was initially used to manage its state (a system that will then be integrated on Facebook) but soon, thanks to the flexibility of the tool that allows you to develop external applications around the basic service, are born very quickly new services (including mobile) and new ways of use, dissemination of Twitter brings newspapers and bloggers to post links from the articles through the microblogging service, moving the target users who speaks to a larger dock.
I took as an example Twitter but I could give others (like Google, YouTube and Facebook), the thing is that intressant to determine whether a service can just born to create a new fashion, the only possible way is to isolate some factors common to our cases study and analysis. I tried to make a list shown below:
Purpose: Your application must be useful.
Using the service: the service must be simple, clear and affordable for everyone.
Integration: there must be an opportunity to integrate the service into other existing platforms like Blogger and SocialNetwork.
Extension: the ability to create new applications Developed by third parties is an opportunity not to be missed. This usually serves to stimulate the creativity of users.
Discharged these factors important things are what I would call "side effects", ie, what changes will provide your service within the company? If your startup will create new community or-even better-will generate new forms of business (such as eBay or PayPal) the possibility that this service will become the next Google are very high.
Keep pace with new trends of the network, with perseverance and dedication is not for everyone and should be made with great openness of mind, if you do not have this ability but want to succeed, pay someone else for you to do so can sniff out business where there is still only potential.
